I thought Batam only has massage but…
Daniel Tan, 51, Singapore
Let’s face it. Batam really is mainly built for Singaporeans. You’d think that Indonesians go there but not really and not often.
Why? Firstly, it is an island and the most convenient way is by ferry which covers 2 piers in Singapore and some piers in Indonesia. Of course there is an airport in Batam but you will need to transfer from Jakarta and come on, why would you fly to an island when you can explore the richness of the city in Jarkata?
Secondly, there isn’t really much to do in Batam. Or so I thought until TrevelUp showed me some interesting places so this point is invalid.
Aside from Mega Batam Center which is just across Batam Ferry Terminal, I didn’t even know about Grand Batam Mall which is really impressive and comparable to Singapore malls! When I said Batam is built for Singaporeans, I did not kid! All the familar brands there! I am not a shopping person but food are so cheap! Massage, KTv are all so cheap as well seriously making it a must for a monthly getaway! The only problem is the expensive ferry ticket!
