Our Anime Filled Family Adventure in Bangkok

Phillip S Lawerence, 29, Scotland

As a family of anime lovers, we’ve always dreamed of visiting a place that could feed our passion, and Bangkok delivered beyond our expectations. Thanks to recommendations from Trevelup, we set off with a mix of excitement and a little bit of uncertainy. Would the city live up to its vibrant reputation? Would our son, full of boundless energy, enjoy every moment? These questions lingered as we landed, but by the end of our trip, we knew we’d made memories to cherish forever.

TrevelUp recommended Mega Plaza to us and they promised it would be filled with anime and toys. Boy, they weren’t kidding! Funny story we have never step into Japan and the language barrie scares me tbh so we settled for Bangkok and it just blew me away! I know I know, you probably think ‘wait till this guy steps into Japan!’ Let’s cross the bridge when we get there ya?

As soon as we stepped inside, I felt like a kid again. Each floor was crammed with anime figurines, toys, and collectibles from series I’ve loved since I was my son’s age. My wee boy’s eyes lit up like fireworks as we browsed through shelves of Gundams, Pokémon, and My Hero Academia merch. I may have splurged on a rare Evangelion figure—don’t tell my wife! It was a dream come true, but

For a romantic breather, my wife and I headed to Asiatique while my parents watched our son. The riverside setting was gorgeous, with a cool breeze and the twinkling lights of the Ferris wheel reflecting on the water. We strolled through the boutiques, indulged in some decadent Thai desserts, and even snagged matching bracelets as a keepsake. It was a much-needed pause from the city’s hustle and bustle, and honestly, it reminded me why we make such a great team, even in the chaos of parenthood.

Bangkok was a whirlwind of emotions—exciting, chaotic, and utterly unforgettable. It wasn’t perfect, but the imperfections made it real. Kudos for the recommendations!
